The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is a flagship programme of the Government of India, launched in 2019 under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Its main objective is to ensure “Har Ghar Jal” – Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) to every rural household, providing safe and adequate drinking water.
The programme follows a community-led and decentralized approach, empowering Gram Panchayats, women, and local communities to plan, implement, and manage their village water supply systems sustainably.

What is the Jal Jeevan Mission?
